My cousin Shelli, came to make cards with me today. We talked about what techniques she wanted to try, and her goal was to practice blending with alcohol markers.  She wanted to make her Mother’s Day card, and she did.  It was amazing and she took to blending with markers like a professional.  She was a little bit nervous at first, but really did well and her card is so beautiful.  I think it will be one that her mother keeps forever, maybe even frames it. If I got her card, I would frame it.

I think some people are just naturally artistic and Shelli is definitely that.  We videotaped our experience of making cards together, and you’ll be able to see it for yourself.  We had so much fun and forgot the camera was on.  I’m a little bit worried that the camera might have turned off at a couple of points, as we colored for hours (literally.)  It was just so much fun to have someone to color with and to experiment with different colors,  fun and relaxing.   I do worry that the video won’t make much sense since we might have skipped some parts, but we’ll do our best to piece it together so that it does.  I can’t wait for everyone to see how talented Shelli is for a beginning crafter.  She should make her own YouTube channel, Cards for Beginners.  That’s a great idea.  Shelli, you should consider it!

  1. Thank you so much for the compliment, Sandy! First a yummy lunch, then a ton of fun making cards. The hours flew by, and I had a blast and learned a lot. You were so patient and a great host! Best of all, we got to spend time together and have a lot of laughs. Definitely, it was a day I’ll never forget.

  2. I finally have some family! I had such a great time and can’t wait to do it again. You’ll have to pick something else you want to try. PS I ordered my new markers because the Spectrum Noir makers didn’t email me back about the dry markers. So I’ll let you know how I like them…Or maybe you should give them a try with me.
I can’t wait to find out what your mom says about your card. I’m so excited! The video’s not too bad either. We only cut out parts that weren’t really more than continued coloring. YAY!

  3. That’s great, I was kind of wondering how our LONG video segments would turn out. And maybe it’ll show how much fun it is to craft together. I can’t wait to do it again. Hopefully I’ll have a crafting space of my own and you can come here.

  4. I’m not sure how long it will be but Rich will have a lot of footage to fast forward through and I was so surprised how little we lost, so it all makes sense. I’d love to play in your new craft room and can’t wait for you to get one. Also can’t wait to hear about what you think of your boxes of goodies. If you don’t want anything, feel free to donate them or throw them out.
