It finally happened…The cold I’ve been trying to dodge, it’s here.  You wouldn’t know this about me, but I DREAD getting colds, because I keep them longer than Rich, then he gives them back to me…Sometimes I have a cold for a month, and that’s not an exaggeration.

We went to breakfast last weekend with college friends and one of them was ill.  At the time I didn’t realize it, so passed the coffee pot, and the sugar and creamer, so basically touched everything she touched.  I try to make sure I don’t touch my face much, but honestly, when you’re eating, you’re basically touching everything.  Toast, communal things, like salt and pepper….darn it….  It was lucky I had one last video for Rich to upload, but now we are out.  I have so many ideas for videos, but my voice is raspy and froggy at the same time, so it’s hard to understand what I’m saying.  I was on the phone with a company, and they had to ask me to spell Parker, as they couldn’t even understand that.  It’s a bummer.

On the flip side, it’s giving me more time to read, and who doesn’t make excuses to do that.  I used to really love Michael Palmer’s books, (he writes medical thrillers), but the one I’m reading now, “Resistant,” is a book about a super bug that no one can cure.  Of course it’s all about terrorism, and how they can spread a super bug and kill anyone and everyone, but it’s one of those things that strikes close to home.   It’s a good read so far, but any time I read about an infection that can’t be cured, it makes me nervous.  I had an infected artificial knee that took six months to eliminate the infection, and the experience left a mark.  Rich gave me IV’s through a port into my chest every twelve hours for six months, and I was in a wheelchair, as they had to remove the knee. After two failed attempts at killing the infection, the third time was the charm.  That’s one of those experiences you definitely don’t want to relive and reading about the different antibiotics they’re using (in this book), things haven’t changed much since 1994.

As for my crafty side, I’ve been watching videos by a company in the UK called Clarity Stamps, and I’ve found so many ideas I want to try.  I’d be in the craft room right now if I could make a video.  Unfortunately, I think it will be a couple of days before I’m back on videos….Drat.
